Here are seven tips to create a good screener for usability test participant recruitment:

  1. Focus questions on the behavior
  2. Limit the number of questions
  3. Think about how you’re going to use the data collected from the screener
  4. Avoid Yes/No responses
  5. Ask open-ended questions if at all possible
  6. Avoid using number of hours or frequency as a measure of or a proxy for expertise
  7. Watch the insider jargon
